Meena Malik


Since we don't know any Veena Malik so we tend to focus more on the young soprano, Meena Malik who began singing in her native Japan. Her 2010 season starts with a role of Frederika Armfeldt in Boston Opera Collaborative’s A Little Night Music, followed by First Spirit in MetroWest Opera’s Magic Flute.

Malik made her operatic debut as Sandman in Hansel and Gretel at the University of Redlands. Since then, she has performed the roles of Nestoria in Schindelmann's Ego, Miles in The Turn of the Screw, title role of Cinderella, the novice in Suor Angelica, First Witch in Dido and Aeneas, La Chouette/Una Pastourelle in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges,
and premiered the role of Muriel in Bell’s Holy Ghosts.

Malik graduated Magna Cum Laude with departmental honors from University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Minor in German.

Malik completed a Master of Music at New England Conservatory with Academic Honors.

Currently, Malik freelances and teaches in the Boston area and continues her private studies with Carole Haber. Malik lives in Jamaica Plain with her husband, cellist Aristides Rivas.
